The Adult BookStoreAlice watched the sweet young woman enter the book store and frowned. She had seen a lot of people come through that door, but the beautiful woman standing uncertainly by the front door was definitely not the kind to frequent a sleazy book store. The woman looked at the movie room with complete indifference, then slowly walked over to the book racks. Alice glanced at the front door, wondering if it were raining or if the girl had been followed. She saw nothing unusual. "I can't stand it... I can't help it... I can't have it," the girl whispered, singing the words of a well-known popular song. Alice happened to love that song, but so did half of America. Alice suddenly realized that the girl was listening to a cd player, the headphones were hidden by her long brown hair. Alice glanced at the clock and found it was 11:00 pm. She sauntered into the movie room and knocked on doors as she went from booth to booth. "Closing time," she said, although she was sure all the booths were empty now. She stood for a moment and waited to be sure, then put her hand on the power breaker on the wall. The curtain parted and the girl walked in, looked at Alice with a smile, and looked at the adds above each entrance before she choose the first door. Alice laughed and shook her head. She went to the first booth and started to knock, then thought better of it. Alice looked at the top of the door suspiciously and found that the movie the girl had chosen was a lesbian movie. |
